Novartis team plants 150 trees in collaboration with Nawaya and the Right to Live Association

Cairo, Egypt, 26 April 2012:  In celebration of their 16th annual Community Partnership Day, almost 400 Novartis Egypt employees traded their work stations for gardening gloves, as they set out to plant 150 trees using sustainable agriculture techniques.

The one-day event aims to promote a brighter future for the environment and society by introducing to many people the importance of urban farming as a sustainable tool for healthy urban living.

Region’s largest trade shows for perishables and plants to take place 26-28 September 2011

Dubai, UAE, September 12, 2011:  Growth of fresh fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers continues to grow in the region says the organisers of the World of Perishables (WOP DUBAI) and International Plant Expo Middle East (IPM DUBAI).  Both trade shows, which hosted over 3,500 visitors last year, will take place side by side at the Dubai Airport Expo from September 26-28, 2011.    Organisers are expecting an increase of visitors by 25 per cent compared to last year’s events.  

WOP DUBAI, held under the Patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, is the Middle East’s only dedicated trade fair for fruits and vegetables and is growing strong for the third consecutive year.  It’s sister event, IPM DUBAI held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports, has consistently been regarded as the region’s largest plants and flowers trade fair and features international exhibitors for six years.

Saudi Arabia accounts for 90 per cent of GCC’s organic food market

Domestic organic & natural foods sector estimated at SAR 1 billion

The growing health consciousness among Saudi residents coupled with rising income levels that allow for flexibility in food choices has transformed the Kingdom into the GCC’s top organic foods market. The KSA’s domestic organic and natural foods sector is currently valued at around SAR 1 billion, accounting for 90 per cent of the regional market.

Efforts are underway to further develop organic food production in the country to boost the Saudi share in the thriving SAR 825 billion global organic food industry. A private-sector Saudi Organic Farming Association established at a budget of SAR 15 million is currently providing support to organic farmers. Considerable Saudi investments into the sector bode well for the broader Saudi agro-food business as organic produce will be processed and packaged locally and thus raise demand for equipment, technology and related services.

Rest of World Region’s Annual Revenues at US$ 600 mn, up 69% YoY

Dubai, UAE,July 28th, 2011 – HCL Technologies Ltd. (HCL), a leading global IT services provider, today announced results for the year and quarter ended June 30 2011. For the full year, HCL’s global revenues increased by 31.1% to US$ 3,545 mn. During the quarter, HCL posted strong growth with global revenues increasing by 30.5% YoY to US$ 963 mn.

Rest of the world (RoW) region, which comprises of APAC, Middle East, ASEAN, ANZ and Africa, posted a revenue increase of 69% YoY in FY 2010-11 and 3.8% QoQ in the fourth quarter of FY 2011.
